Texas Company Moves to Cynthiana

Company brings 80 jobs with more than $2 million investment

CYNTHIANA, Ky. (July 22, 2015) – When a company realizes it has found a great home in Kentucky, it seems only natural that it would want to expand upon its relationship with the Commonwealth. Lt. Gov. Crit Luallen today congratulated Commercial Specialty Truck Holdings (CSTH) for relocating its subsidiary, Continental Mixer Solutions to Cynthiana.

The company, which produces Ready-Mix truck bodies, will create 80 jobs and invest more than $2 million into the project. Continental Mixers has moved to a facility shared by another subsidiary of CSTH, E-Z Pack Refuse Hauling Solutions, which employs 100 people in the area.

"Any time a company makes the decision to relocate to Kentucky, it is exciting news," said Gov. Steve Beshear. "Having Continental Mixers join E-Z Pack, which has been a successful and significant employer in the area for more than 50 years, means a team has been put together in Cynthiana that promises to have a positive and long-lasting impact on the Commonwealth."

"Commercial Specialty Truck Holdings deciding to unite two of its companies into one facility is fantastic news for the workforce in and around Cynthiana," said Lt. Gov. Luallen. "Both E-Z Pack and Continental Mixers have had resounding success in the specialized truck industry and we're proud that Continental Mixers now calls Kentucky home."

Continental Mixers relocated to Cynthiana from Houston and shares the 350,000-square-foot facility that presently houses E-Z Pack on Ladish Road. The company is a leading manufacturer of concrete mixers in the country and has been in operation since 1982. The move to Cynthiana will nearly double employment at the facility.

"Our plant in Cynthiana has provided a great platform for manufacturing growth, and we continue to invest in this facility and the workforce," said Frank Busicchia, Continental Mixers president. "We have found the economic climate in Kentucky to be outstanding, and wish to thank the community of Cynthiana, Harrison County and the state economic development team for all their assistance in helping facilitate a smooth transition."

"We are happy to welcome Continental Mixers to Cynthiana," said Sen. Steve West, of Paris. "We are excited for the estimated 80 new jobs provided by this relocation, which undoubtedly will have a significant economic impact on our community."

"I'm really pleased to see Continental Mixers move production to Cynthiana and expand the work already being done at the site by E-Z Pack," said Rep. Tom McKee, of Cynthiana. "These new jobs come at a great time for our community and strengthen the reputation E-Z Pack already has here. I want to thank them and appreciate the cooperative work Gov. Beshear, the Cabinet for Economic Development and our local leaders did to help make this happen."

"The City of Cynthiana is pleased that Continental Mixers chose our city as their manufacturing location," said Cynthiana Mayor James Smith. "This is exciting news. We have a great city and welcome the addition of Continental Mixers to our growing economy and close-knit community.""Harrison County is excited about the opportunity to team with Continental Mixers," said Harrison County Judge-Executive Alex Barnett. "The additional jobs will help boost our local economy and continue to make Harrison County a great place to live, work and raise a family."

To encourage the investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $2 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.

In addition, Continental Mixers is eligible to receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network. Through the Kentucky Skills Network, companies are eligible to receive no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job training incentives. Last year, the Kentucky Skills Network trained more than 84,000 employees from more than 4,100 Kentucky companies.
