FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 2, 2015) – A Glasgow truck assembler plans to nearly triple its workforce. Gov. Steve Beshear today announced that D & B Trucks and Equipment Sales is expanding its operations in Barren County.
D & B Trucks, which builds and sells truck gliders, plans to add up to 50 new jobs and invest $575,000 into the project.
"The evolution of D & B Trucks and Equipment in Glasgow is a great success story in south central Kentucky," said Gov. Beshear. "Over the past 14 years, the company has blossomed into a booming truck glider assembly business. I congratulate D & B for this expansion and for creating dozens of jobs in the region."
D & B purchases old or wrecked semi-trucks, deconstructs them to the framing and re-assembles them on a new chassis and shell with rebuilt engines, transmissions and clutches. These gliders are also customized with more user-friendly components than brand new trucks, which give them a competitive edge.
Because of high demand, D & B plans to add 9,600 square feet to its current 15,440-square-foot operation on Burkesville Road. The expansion, which will be completed this fall, will allow to the company to more than double its monthly production.
"We are very excited about our expansion and the opportunity to provide more jobs in Barren County," said owner Dale Clark. "Though construction to be completed by the end of October, we will begin the hiring process immediately. We are grateful of the support we have received from our local and state government and are looking forward to this new venture and continued growth."
D & B offers a lineup of new and quality used trucks, trailers and forestry and construction equipment, including parts and services. The company, which opened 14 years ago by selling forestry equipment, currently employs 29 Kentuckians.

To encourage the investment and job creation, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $400,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.
In addition, D & B is eligible to receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network. Through the Kentucky Skills Network, companies are eligible to receive no cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced cost customized training and job training incentives. Last year, the Kentucky Skills Network trained more than 84,000 employees from more than 4,100 Kentucky companies.
