The Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development (CED) is very happy to welcome German-owned Schürholz Group to Kentucky as the company plans to establish a manufacturing footprint in the United States to better serve its growing customer base.

After incorporating in Lexington in October of this year, the Schürholz Group is the latest addition to Kentucky’s cornerstone automotive industry.

The company looks forward to their growth here in the commonwealth and will soon be featured on CONNEX Kentucky – a free online platform that provides a single, searchable supply chain database for manufacturers throughout the state to connect with one another and find new business opportunities.

“We are very pleased to welcome the Schürholz Group in Kentucky, as it not only strengthens our automotive industry and supplier base in the commonwealth, it also strengthens our ties to our network of companies from Northrhine-Westfalia in Germany,” said CED commissioner Kristina Slattery. “With our German office we can easily look after our companies from this regional industrial powerhouse and hope to build on these relationships.”

Founded in 1918, the Schürholz Group started as a producer of punched washers and has developed into a systems supplier and flexible service provider for comprehensive solutions, providing sophisticated precision parts, assemblies and components to the automotive, automotive supplier and electronics industries worldwide.

The Schürholz Group offers development expertise and support for products and processes through its own tool and prototype construction. The diverse range of services includes stamping and stamp-bending technology, various welding processes through to laser welding online in the process for component production. Other services include project management, assembly as well as individual logistics and supply concepts.

“We are very happy and proud that we are now finally represented in three different continents as the Schürholz Group,” said Angelo Castrignano, CEO of the Schürholz Group. “We are looking forward to the next exciting steps to develop this new location of the Schuerholz Group accordingly in order to supply our customer base in the U.S. In recent years, we have worked intensively on the establishment of a new location and found Kentucky to be the best fit for our company and goals. We received a very friendly welcome from everyone and immediately felt very comfortable and at home.”

In total, the Schürholz Group, with more than 180 million parts produced in 2022, generates an annual turnover of more than 140 million euro and employs over 300 individuals across four locations.

The automotive sector remains a key industry in Kentucky and continues to grow, backed by a strong business climate, location advantages and existing-industry momentum. With over 550 automotive facilities employing over 100,000 people, Kentucky ranks No. 1 nationally in production of passenger vehicles per capita and overall is the third-largest producer of passenger cars and trucks.
